The road to Dunsborough

-->
It’s been a crazy couple of days. It is currently 7:15 am, Jesse, Melina and I are driving through wine country in the southwest, bringing Melina to Albany for her new job.

Jesse and I talked to our manager in Merredin about our issues with her drinking in between shifts. The chat did not go well, we packed our shit that afternoon, worked our last shift at the Northside Tavern on Saturday afternoon and walked out that night. We’ve got a feeling that she had feeling we were going to take off because we went to a friends for some drinks with the plan to come back for our stuff after she had gone to bed; when we got back to the Tav, she had padlocked the gate to the carpark. Jesse and Pickle actually had to jump the fence and sneak into the courtyard to get to our rooms and get our stuff. We spent that night at John and Meg’s (Meg used to work at the Tav, and was more than happy to help us skip out). Jesse and I left for Perth shortly after 10 am on Sunday morning to pick up Melina (who we worked with at the Tav for a week). Picked up the German, and got good and lost in Perth before getting on the highway to Dunsborough. We arrived in Dunsborouh around 6 pm and hung round Jess’s old place with his old roommates. Had a blast that night drinking, talking, playing charades. They were sweet enough to let us crash at their place for the night.

Yesterday (when Jess finally managed to drag himself out of bed) we headed off Yallingup beach where I finally got to swim in the ocean for the first time! So exhilarating! Although when I got out my bikini was full of sand and I felt like I had eaten twelve bags of chips. Exhausted after our swim, Jess called up his Canadian surfer friend, RB, who had agreed to drive us up to Three Bears Beach in his Land Cruiser for a surf lesson. The drive up to the beach was wicked, I’ve been offroading on rocks, mud, dirt et cetera. Never sand. So incredible cruising up and down sandy roads between brush and bushes, catching glimpses of the ocean and kangaroos around every bend. And the beach was incredible. Not a great day for surfing so we just chilled on the beach drinking cider and Canadian Club whisky and dry’s. The sun was slowly setting as we drove back toward the road to Dunsborough. Ordered pizza from Big Pig and went to the beach in Dunsborough, chilled for a bit and headed off to Meelup Beach to camp for the night. (But don’t tell, cuz technically you’re not allowed to camp overnight there). Up with the sun we’re now taking the scenic drive to Albany to bring Melina to work and for Jess and I to look for jobs for ourselves.
