T Minus 2 Weeks Until The Adventure Escalates

Drove a manual in Aus for the first time. I think it went well apart from almost hitting the pole we were parked in front of (don't worry Jordie's car is fine), pulling out onto the right side of the road (could have told you that was gonna happen), turning on the wipers instead of the indicator and almost hitting the only other car out on the road in Narromine at midnight. But I didn't stall once, so I'm calling that a win.

The Macquarie River is filthy. Still absolutely glorious for a swim when it's 40+ a million degrees Celsius out and you don't want to do ANYTHING with your life. But having shrimp bite your toes, fish swim into your cleavage and not being able to see your hand when it's two inches under the surface really reminds you of just what your body is soaking in. Not to mention when you get into the shower at home and the white inside of your bikini top is brown from the dirt and water it's retaining. Yum. I regret nothing. Those are also the best showers of life.

Swimming in the Macquarie is one of the few things I have done other than work since arriving in Narromine. The others mostly involve drinking too much coffee, the beginning of a smoking habit that needs to get nipped in the bud ASAP and not getting enough sleep for a number of different reasons, the only one of which I will say here is that it is too freakin hot to sleep until about 4 am, which is only 2 hours before the sun comes up and the whole damned cycle starts again. But I'm still loving my life. And having VERY mixed feelings about leaving Narromine.
